It is east of Lighthouse Point. Hillsboro Beach is an island with the Atlantic Ocean on the east and Intercoastal Waterway on the west. It is about 25 miles from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. It was officially incorporated on June 16, 1947. It was named after the Earl of Hillsboro, who received it from the King of England while Florida was still under English possession. It is home to many multi-million dollar mansions that have ocean views on one side of their property and docks with boat houses on the other. It also home to luxury condominiums and the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse. It is a wonderful place to live.
