It is south of Palm Springs and Lake Worth and west of Lake Worth and Lantana. Atlantis is named after the infamous island. It is just west of the Palm Beach County Airport in Lantana and southwest of John Prince Park and the John Price Park campground. Most of it used to be Mulberry Farms. A state Senator who raised Brahman cattle owned it and sold it to two developers in 1958. It was incorporated June 19, 1959.

It is a small municipality, consisting of only 834 acres, which is approximately 1.4 square miles. Most of it is land and .04 square miles are water. 43% of the total land area is devoted to recreation and permanent open space. It contains very little commercial property. Its northern boarder is the Lake Worth Drainage Canal (L-14). Its southern boarder is Lantana Road. Its eastern boarder is Congress Avenue and its western boarder is Military Trail. It is a gated community with two parks and its own police force.

It is a golfer’s paradise offering 45 holes of golf, making it a very lush and green community. It is a beautiful place to visit and a lovely place to live. It is home to JFK Medical Center, a 460-bed facility specializing in cardiovascular care. It is also home to a popular Country Club and Golf Club. The Golf Club has three 9-hole golf courses.
